How Eating Disorders Can Stem From Simple Weight Loss Tips

On June 30, 2009 in Uncategorized

Lisa started her diet following some simple weight loss tips, but ultimately suffered from a combination of related eating disorders: bulimia nervosa and anorexia nervosa. Although these disorders primarily affect females in their teens and twenties, and can easily start from following innocent fast weight loss tips, they can also affect men, older women and young children.

Of the two, anorexia is easier to spot. People with this disease have an intense fear of being fat, causing them to take all the quick weight loss tips to the extreme and starve themselves to emaciation. In women, it also causes amenorrhea, or the cessation of the menstrual cycle. People with bulimia are generally closer to normal weight, but they are also obsessed with body size. Bulimia is characterized by frequent binge-purge episodes, which involve eating a large amount of food in a short period of time and then trying to prevent weight gain by vomiting, using laxatives, dieting, fasting or exercising vigorously. It is common for people to have symptoms of both.
